The Phrygians were an ancient Indo-European people who inhabited the region of Phrygia, an area in the western part of Anatolia (modern-day Turkey). The Phrygian civilization is often associated with the Bronze Age and Iron Age periods, and their presence in the historical record is attested from the late second millennium BCE onward.   Phrygia was located in the western part of Anatolia, in an area that included parts of central and northwestern Turkey.
